American Inside Out

American Inside Out is a groundbreaking new course for adult and young adult learners of English. American Inside Out takes students straight into the heart of English through:

How the Video Activity Book works
Each Video Activity Book unit is closely linked to the topics and activities in the Student’s Book and is comprised of photocopiable student’s worksheets, Teacher’s notes and a bank of extra Communicative Activities. Each unit offers a variety of activities that allow the teachers to guide the students through the unit and develop their understanding of the topics and language in the video. There are four pages per unit.

The photocopiable student’s worksheets include:

• Before You Watch activities lead the students into the theme of the video by discussion, prediction or pre-teaching vocabulary key to understanding the video.
• While You Watch activities that exploit the video through different activities. Students are usually asked to watch the video twice. The first While You Watch task usually focuses on more general questions that helps students focus on the video rather than the worksheet. The later tasks are more suitable for a second watching. They are more detailed and help develop students’ deeper understanding of the video.
• After You Watch activities that are directly related to the video and encourage students to discuss and personalize themes that came up in the video or broaden their language skills.
• a Culture Connection box, which adds a cross-cultural theme to the unit. The Culture Connection includes a short text aimed at encouraging students to explore themes and stimulate discussions based on a comparison with the student’s own culture.
  

The Teacher’s notes include:

• a Summary of the video content with directions on how to use the video with the Student’s Book.
• a Language Focus section that gives a list of language areas covered in the video.
• a Procedure section with full, step by step instructions on how to use the video activity worksheets.
• a full answer key.
• a Homework activity for each unit.
• a Video Script for each unit that allows teachers and students to look more closely at the language in each video unit.
• a Communicative Activity for each unit
• an Understanding the Details section
• a Top Technique reminder
