New Inside Out Videos
Look out for the publication of Inside Out Videos at Elementary and Pre-intermediate levels in December. Each Video has a huge range of exciting material, including pop videos, documentaries and interviews and is accompanied by a Video Teacher's Book which provide core lesson material, teacher's notes and cultural information. 19 - 22 July 2004

Braztesol
There was no doubt about it, Macmillan were the stars of Braztesol, Belo Horizonte with a spectacular stand in a prime position - not to mention the Macmillan team, all dressed in black and looking the business. Sue Kay's talks, Personalised Practice Means More Practice, Fillers and Re-energisers and Inside Out: the course that gets your students speaking, were very well attended. Teachers came away enthused with practical ideas they could immediately use in the classroom.

The Inside Out Test CD is now available. The Test CD has been designed to help teachers customise evaluation materials to suit their needs and their students' needs. There are 125 tests in editable Word format.

Workshops for Teachers in Belgium
Jon Hird, Inside Out contributing author and teacher trainer, held a series of workshops in Belgium for secondary school teachers recently. He covered topics ranging from personalising grammar practice to using the ‘anecdote’ activities in Inside Out as effective extended speaking tasks. What did the teachers think?

IATEFL, 13th – 17th April 2004, Liverpool
Inside Out authors Vaughan Jones and Sue Kay gave two fantastic talks at IATEFL in Liverpool.

Vaughan spoke on “Inside Inside Out”, focusing on how the book helps teachers to create a language-rich environment and provides opportunities for meaningful practice. All participants received a free copy of the new Elementary level.

Sue delivered a fascinating workshop on “Texts, students and meaningful language practice”, in which she demonstrated techniques for adapting authentic texts and obtaining a personal response to those texts.

The Elementary Resource Pack is now available. The Resource Pack brings together thirty-seven photocopiable worksheets, linked unit-by-unit to the Student's Book. Ten teachers in the UK and abroad have contributed to the Resource Pack. The Resource Pack can be purchased online from the secure macmillanenglish bookshop.


18 - 20 March

British Council National ELT Conference, Palazzo del Cinema, Lido, Venice, Italy

Vaughan Jones presented Grammar what matters to a packed audience. In this thought-provoking yet hugely entertaining session, Vaughan demonstrated classroom activities that are designed to make students aware of why grammar matters. Exercises from Inside Out were used to illustrate examples. The audience came away with some great ideas for the classroom.
