Unit 14

The body
http://iteslj.org/v/ei/body.html
http://iteslj.org/cw/2/tm-body.html
The first of these is a multiple choice quiz that tests your students’ knowledge of body parts and the second is a crossword puzzle. You can use either of these to find out how much your students already know or as revision.

http://www.prongo.com/human/
Another quiz about the human body. Designed for kids, it is still incredibly challenging and interesting for all ages. Pair your students up and get them to discuss each question.

Image and Personality
http://www.queendom.com/tests/personality/index.html
Lots of personality quizzes that look at a wide range of areas connected to personality.

Unit 16

Dotcom
http://www.cheapflights.com/
http://www.flowers2send.com
http://www.ebay.com/
http://www.amazon.com
Here are four of the websites mentioned at the start of Unit 16. Put your students into four groups and ask each group to look at one of the websites and write three questions about the homepage of the site. Swap the questions between the groups and see who can find the answers fastest.

Unit 17

Directions
http://www.esl-lab.com/dir1/dir1.htm
http://www.esl-lab.com/dir3.htm
http://www.esl-lab.com/dir4/dir4.htm
A set of online listening activities from esl-lab.com. The first two are relatively easy, especially as they only require true/false answers. For the third one your students will need to listen to the extract a few times in order to complete the task using the online map. These activities include a lot of the language taught in the unit plus a little more – a good extension activity for your stronger students.

Unit 18

Writing stories
http://www.eduplace.com/tales/index.html
This is a fun activity site where the students write an unusual story using a specially designed programme. Get the students to work in groups and fill in the boxes following the prompts (excellent practice on parts of speech) before clicking on the ‘See your …’ icon. Then read and have a laugh.

Fairytales
http://www-2.cs.cmu.edu/~spok/grimmtmp/
Once upon a time … is the focus of page 77. This site gives you downloadable copies of 209 Grimm fairytales.

Unit 19
The weather
http://www.learner.org/exhibits/weather/
A very interesting site that takes a close look at weather. You could either write a number of comprehension questions before the class and then get your students to do a reading race or you could ask them to write their own questions to give to another group.

http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wresources.htm
Includes an A-Z list of everything you and your students could want to know about weather. Click on the letter of a topic, eg, C for clouds, and find out how they are formed, how they move and why they release rain. If you want to know anything about weather, this is the site for you.
